Virtual Reality

Nomadic is a location based Virtual Reality company. We created free roaming, “Tactile Reality” experiences where players played through a physical environment without the need for controllers. All set pieces, players and props were tracked by the system along with wind, heat and other sensory effects combined to completely immerse players in the virtual world.

My role was to create all the physical elements of the experiences, and how they would integrate with the virtual world. My name is on 5 of the patents for our modular set & prop system, and how it integrates with VR.

A number of publications ran articles on us. This one ran before we opened our first location, and featured our smaller scale convention demonstrator called Chicago.

Orlando

Our first location opened in Orlando Florida, and this was one of the promotional videos for it. Our new game was a collaboration with Vertigo Games. It featured a free roaming version of their Arizona Sunshine zombie shooter game for teams of 1 to 4 players.

There are quick glimpses of our VR physical sets and props within this video. It was quite a challenge to plan for any possible player behaviors, and inevitably they’d do something we never suspected.

Rampage

We introduced a scarier, dark version of Arizona Sunshine to satisfy those adult players that REALLY wanted to be overwhelmed with zombies. It was designed as a 4 player team game like the original, and was nearly impossible to do as a single player without “dieing”. But that didn’t stop some people from trying.
